TU's annual regatta served also as the Midwest Regional Championships. The wind was up and the water was not ideal.

Tulsa offensive lineman Wilson Holloway, who missed the second half of this season after cancer was rediscovered in his chest, won the annual FedEx Orange Bowl-FWAA Courage Award. Holloway was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma last spring and underwent chemotherapy before returning to play six games this season on special teams and as a reserve. Tests in October showed that the cancer had returned, cutting his season short.
